Back up your vault to iCloud, encrypted. Turn it on in Settings → Backup and Nomima keeps an encrypted snapshot of everything — notes, files, settings — in your own iCloud Drive, on the schedule you choose. It is opt-in, it never leaves your account, and it is encrypted before it goes anywhere. Restore any snapshot from the same screen; your previous vault is kept alongside as a safety copy. Set a recovery passphrase and you can restore on a brand-new Mac that is not signed into your iCloud. Share a notebook with the Mac next to you. Right-click any notebook → Share… and AirDrop it straight across — no account, no internet, no link (Messages, Mail and Save to Files come along too). Attached files travel with it, and smart tags reconnect to the recipient’s own people and projects. AWS Bedrock now works end to end — paste a single Bedrock API key and Nomima works out your region on its own, then lists the models your account can actually use, Claude included. And a keyboard-shortcuts reference (⌘/) lists every shortcut the app really responds to, while Summon’s memory now recalls what is relevant to your question instead of just the newest facts.
In-app updates. No more downloading a new disk image and dragging it over — Nomima now updates itself: when a new version is out it downloads in the background, verifies it, and offers “Restart to update”. One tap and you’re on the latest. (This is the first version with it, so it takes over from here on.) Smart-tag pills: removing a tag now keeps the words (it un-tags instead of deleting the text), and selecting a mix of a pill and plain text and hitting #/@ folds the whole selection into one tag. Pinnable toolbar: pin the floating formatting bar so it becomes a sticky header that stays put as you scroll. Per-notebook zoom: ⌘ +/−/0 (or the status-bar control) scales a notebook’s text, remembered per notebook.
Summon now runs entirely on Nomima's Rust backend — background research tasks keep working while you do, with macOS bridges (calendar, reminders, mail, notes), file/memory/stats tools, and approval gates for anything that writes. A new in-Summon model switcher changes provider and model without leaving the chat. The References library lands: read a source in a structure-preserving reader, highlight passages, cite them, and collect everything in a Library. Insights adds a behavioral-analytics layer (event log, Insights view, drill-through). Sidebar folders and a full-page folder overview with content search sit above your notebooks, with drag-to-arrange ordering. Plus a dedicated to-do block, truer section completion, and faithful, clickable publishing replicas.
Select any text, click the wand in the floating toolbar, type an instruction, and watch the AI rewrite stream in with a purple glow. Accept to keep it, Reject to undo, Regenerate for another pass — smart tags (@mentions, #hashtags) appear as real pills in the response. Export any notebook as Markdown, HTML, or JSON; zip your whole vault for a backup. Import it back — or bring in a Markdown file or vault from elsewhere. Twelve curated themes (six dark, six light) let you pick the editor palette that fits your mood. Back/forward navigation finally lands — arrow buttons in the header retrace your steps like a browser. The Table of Contents is now block-level with icons and nesting; the Entity Detail View is a bento-grid dashboard with pattern chips and activity rings; notebooks get assignable icons; the tray shows live RAM/CPU sparklines; and drag handles let you reorder any block anywhere.
Click anywhere inside a Section block — between the title row and the first content block, or below the last block in the section body — and a cursor appears immediately. Previously these gaps were dead zones that required keyboard workarounds. The Knowledge Graph no longer shows a phantom “File” cluster on notebooks that have Section blocks with NLP-matched entities; the fix tightens how synthetic block IDs are resolved so only real file attachments produce file cluster nodes.
Summon now reads your authored relationships — tag @Yanal as CTO once, and Summon knows it everywhere, not just from co-occurrence in the knowledge graph. Type @ in the Summon composer and every suggestion shows its entity type chip: Person, Company, Project, Idea, Team — no more guessing. RSS feeds now deduplicate: two blocks pointing at the same URL share one cache, no duplicate downloads. Settings → Vault gained a new stepper row for Articles/feed and Retention days — changes apply instantly. And on first launch after upgrading, a 128 MB dead embedding model is auto-removed; orphaned RSS images are swept daily and on Re-index.
Click any @mention or #hashtag and hit Expand for a full-page Entity view: how often and where you use it, how it ranks against your other tags, what it most appears alongside (clickable to hop between entities), usage trends, and how complete its profile is. Merge now truly folds one entity into another — every mention in your notes is rewritten to the survivor (within the same kind). And follow-ups are now a timestamped log beside comments: a finished checklist or section keeps a running trail of what happened next (“emailed @Asal”, “moved to tomorrow”) — with @mentions, #tags and dates as you type — instead of breeding more blocks.
Your Smart Tags grew up. Every @mention and #hashtag is now backed by a stable identity — rename one and it updates everywhere, merge duplicates, or give it an alias. Entities carry typed attributes (text, number, date, yes/no, single- and multi-select, currency) that you can query across, each has a profile with stats, and the relationships you write between them now render on the Knowledge Graph. Pick a tag's kind (Person, Company, Status…) as you type. Plus: every block has a drag handle — drag to move (the destination column/section highlights), or click it for a menu: mark complete, colour the whole block, copy a link to the block (paste it as a reference pill), duplicate, move/copy to another notebook. And click any empty space — even inside columns and callouts — to add a line.
Hand work to Summon and keep writing. Type /assign in any note — take the whole line, type an instruction, or select text and hit Assign to Summon — and it runs as a background task with a live status pill that links straight to whatever it produced. A Summon Tasks queue tracks everything, with per-action approvals and an activity trail of what it did while you were away. Summon can now also draft email, add calendar events & reminders, and write Apple Notes. Plus: RSS feeds page in as you scroll with automatic cleanup, and comments anchor to their block with a side popover.
Type @Name or #Topic directly in the Summon chat box — pills appear inline and Summon automatically receives the entity's full profile or matching vault passages as context. Coin a brand-new tag on the spot, no need to open the editor first.
Summon now asks before it writes — a scope card shows exactly which notes will be touched. Ask "what do I know about X?" and get answers grounded in your vault with source badges. A persistent memory panel lets the agent remember across sessions. In-place conversational edits land precisely without breaking the surrounding document.
Widget blocks now give you exact per-block analytics — query exactly the blocks you care about. Single-value option tags let you model Priority or Severity fields. Any block can now anchor a follow-up chain, so completed work doesn't disappear — it links forward to what comes next.
Finishing a TaskList, Kanban, Gantt, Section, or Callout now shows a ↳ prompt to log a linked follow-up action. Work doesn't just get marked done — it becomes an explicit handoff to whatever comes next, keeping your vault's chain of reasoning intact.
Summon got materially better at planning, vault grounding, and precise tool use — fewer hallucinations, more surgical edits. Notebooks gained an always-on Table of Contents that highlights sections as you scroll (spy mode), and the template library was rebuilt around the full block palette: databases, query tables, entity tables, and scoped dashboards.
Summon moved from a simple chat panel to a full vault agent — 22 tools covering search, the knowledge graph, your agenda, entity data, and statistics. It can now perform safe granular edits to notebooks, maintain persistent memories across sessions, and run a deep-research mode that synthesizes across your whole vault before writing.
Published pages now match your exact app theme — light, dark, or any custom palette. Every block type renders faithfully: Kanban boards, Gantt charts, databases, embeds, and more. The publishing backend moved to Cloudflare (Worker + R2 + D1), and Nomima became fully free — no license key, no tier gate.
Drop a /terminal block anywhere in a notebook and get a fully interactive shell — run scripts, tail logs, or test commands without leaving the document. Output is captured inline. Great for runbooks, dev notes, and any workflow where context and commands live together.
Every save creates a snapshot. Pull up the history scrubber and drag left to replay exactly what changed — additions highlighted green, deletions in red, in-place edits in amber. The editor scrolls to the nearest changed block automatically so nothing happens off-screen. Branching, restoring, and comparing versions is a single drag away.
One click publishes a notebook to read.nomima.io — a pixel-faithful replica with Smart Tag pills intact, your theme, and all block types rendering correctly. The published URL is shareable with anyone; no Nomima account needed to read.
@mentions and #hashtags evolved from simple labels into entities with arbitrary attributes — phone number, email, website, description, photo or favicon. The entity card panel surfaces everything you know about a person, place, or topic in one click, and the knowledge graph now shows richer node detail.
Paste rich content from anywhere — a web page, a doc, a code file — and Nomima converts it into native blocks: headings, lists, code with language detection, diagrams, math formulas, and tables. No more stripping markdown by hand or fighting with plain-text walls.

Your data goes directly from your machine to the model provider of your choice.
Summon is a persistent AI panel embedded in every note. Open it from the bottom-right FAB or with a keyboard shortcut, ask it anything about your vault, and have it draft, rewrite, summarize, or create entire notebooks — without leaving the context of what you're working on. Answers stream directly into the editor if you ask it to write.
The first 1.0 release introduced the Home view — a smart agenda that pulls overdue items, today's tasks, upcoming reminders, and open actions from every notebook into a single dashboard. No more opening each note to know what needs attention. The knowledge graph, editor, and Smart Tag system all reached a stable, coherent state in this release.
