Smart Views & Home
Your notes are written once but readable from every angle: by person, by project, by date, by task, by file. Nothing here needs maintaining — it’s all derived from what you wrote.
The lens switcher
Open Smart View from the sidebar. A floating bar of round lens buttons sits over the content — hover one to see its label, click to switch. One lens is active at a time.

Tag cards
Inside a lens, each tag gets a card:
- The colored chip with the tag’s name, type and note count.
- An open-work badge (“3 open”) when there are unfinished items.
- A progress bar tracking done vs. total.
- Every block that mentions the tag, as a checkable row — checkbox, snippet, and source notebook. Click the text to jump to the note; tick the box to complete the block right there (see Complete & incomplete).
- Completed rows tuck under an “N completed” toggle so the card stays focused on what’s open.
The Dates lens
A single agenda merging dated tasks (checkboxes with due dates) and dates mentioned in prose (“meet Sara friday”) — deduplicated so nothing appears twice. Items group into sticky buckets: Overdue (red), Today, Tomorrow, This week, This month, Later. Every row has a checkbox and a link back to its source note.
The Files lens
Everything you’ve attached, grouped by notebook:
- Click a file to open it in its default app.
- Each row shows name, size, type and an indexing state: Embedded (text extracted and searchable), Processing, or No text (stored, nothing to extract).
- Delete (hover for the trash icon) removes the file, its extracted text and knowledge-graph entities, and the file pill in the note — one action purges everything, with a confirmation first.
Home — your daily agenda
Home greets you (in English plus a rotating second language with a phonetic guide), shows today’s date, and lays out your day — computed live from your notes, no AI required and nothing to refresh:
- Active reminders — what’s counting down right now.
- Overdue — red rows with “done? · snooze?” shortcuts.
- Today, then the next few days grouped per day, then Later.
- Recently completed — shown when you’re all caught up, so an empty day feels earned.
Use the small tabs at the top right to regroup the agenda by Time (default), @Mentions or #Tags — the same items organized around people and projects instead of the clock.
The Smart Scrollbar
Every note has a slim minimap rail on its right edge — a fingerprint of the document:
- Colored dashes mark blocks containing smart tags, in the tag’s own color. Grey dashes are completed blocks; plain structural blocks get faint placeholder dashes so the rail mirrors the whole document.
- Red dashes and icons flag overdue work: a calendar icon for overdue dates, a clock for overdue reminders, with counts.
- Accent dashes mark comment threads.
- Hover the rail and dashes magnify (dock-style) with a tooltip listing the entities at that spot — open ones first, done ones struck through.
- Click any dash to jump there; the block flashes so you don’t lose it. A white dash shows where you currently are.
The command palette
⌘K opens search across everything: notebooks, blocks, hashtags, mentions, dates (try “tomorrow” or a weekday name), files, and app commands. Pressing Enter on a tag opens its lens and flashes it. You can stack multiple tags and toggle between matching all or any of them — instant ad-hoc filtered views.
The Stats dashboard
Nomima keeps a full-page Stats board — a bento grid of small live widgets that report on your whole vault. It’s the same widget engine as the in-note Dashboard block (Dashboard & widgets), just at full-view size: every tile reads straight from the index of everything you’ve written — your tasks, dates, pills, notebooks — and the whole board recomputes on its own whenever you write, complete or import. There’s no refresh button.
Widgets come in eight shapes, each suited to what it’s measuring:

| List | The top few rows of something — the 5 most overdue, the soonest due. |
A fresh board opens curated: Overdue, Due today, Open tasks and Open actions across the top; a Task completion ring, a 7-day Upcoming trend and a Hashtags cloud; then Top mentions, a 30-day Activity trend and Tasks by status. Every one of them is live from the moment you open it.
Build your own from the dashed “+” tile in the first empty cell:
- Quick add gallery. The builder opens on a gallery of ready-made widgets, each rendered as a live preview using your real data — Numbers up top, Charts & lists below. Click one to drop it straight onto the board.
- Build custom. “Build custom →” opens the full builder. In Quick mode you pick from four dimensions — When (Any time, Overdue, Due today, Due this week / this month, Upcoming, Complete, No due date), Who (@mentions), Topics (#tags) and which notebooks to count. Advanced mode swaps in a raw condition builder — block type, contains-or-lacks a date / mention / hashtag / status, count thresholds — combined with all / any logic.
- Shape & style. Choose the viz, an accent colour, a 1×1 or 2×1 size and a title. A live preview of the finished tile sits beside you the whole time; hit Add widget (or Save changes when editing).
On the board itself: drag a widget’s header to move it, drag its bottom-right corner to resize, and hover for the pencil (re-opens the builder on that widget’s exact recipe) or the × to remove it. The board is content-sized — it grows downward and scrolls rather than clipping, so a widget you added on a big screen stays reachable on a small one.
Same widgets, two homes. Anything you build here you can also embed inside a note: /dashboard drops in a whole grid, /widget a single tile. It’s one shared engine — see Dashboard & widgets.
Next Actions
The Next Actions view gathers the actionable items the AI extracts from your notes as you write — the “someone needs to do something” lines — and groups them by the notebook they came from. Each notebook card leads with a “Suggested next” shortlist: the top five open actions, ranked by priority then recency and de-duplicated, with an open-count badge. “Show all” expands the rest plus anything already done. Tick an item to mark it done — it writes back and every count re-tallies live — or click its text to jump to the source block.
How it differs from Home and the Tasks lens. Home is your dated agenda — reminders and blocks that carry a due date, bucketed by day. The Tasks lens lists every literal checkbox in the vault, done or not. Next Actions is neither: it’s the AI’s reading of what to do next — surfaced as short per-notebook shortlists, whether or not you ever wrote the item as a checkbox.
The Brief view
Distinct from Home, the standalone Brief view is a single grid of cards — one per #tag and @mention in the vault, busiest first (most open work, then most notes). Each card carries the coloured chip, an open-work badge, a progress bar (done vs. total), the note count and the tag’s knowledge-graph topic. Click a card to drop into that tag’s lens in Smart View. Where Home answers “what’s due today,” Brief answers “where does my open work sit, by person and by project.”
Nothing here is manual. There are no refresh buttons in Nomima — lenses, Home, the graph and the briefs all update on the fly as you write, complete and import. The only manual action that exists is the deep “Re-index” in Settings → Vault, and you should rarely need it.
