Where Stats shows the current shape of your vault, Insights shows how you work over time — a private log of your own task activity, turned into personal productivity trends. 100% on-device.
Opening Insights
Click Insights in the sidebar footer to open the view. Pick a range — 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or all time — and everything on the page updates to match.
The KPI strip & insight ribbon
- Completed / Created — how many tasks you finished and added in the selected range.
- Avg. time to complete — the average span from when a task was created to when it was checked off.
- Streak — your current run of consecutive active days.
- Period deltas & sparklines — each tile shows how it's moved since the previous period of the same length.
- Insight ribbon — a plain-English readout under the KPIs: your momentum vs. last period, your most productive weekday and hour, active streaks, which tag takes you longest to close out, and how often you reopen work you'd marked done.
Trend, calendar & heatmap
- Throughput trend — completed vs. created over time, with a 7-day moving average and a cumulative-flow toggle.
- Completion calendar — a year-long, GitHub-style grid of green squares, one per day, darker where you completed more.
- Productive-hours heatmap — day-of-week × hour, switchable between completion counts and time spent.
- Breakdown bars — by hashtag, mention, notebook or block type, switchable between count and average time.
- Time-to-complete distribution — how long tasks typically take from creation to done.
Drill-through
Click any breakdown bar or calendar day and a panel slides in from the right, listing the actual tasks behind it — icon, preview, notebook and time-to-complete for each. Click one to jump straight to that block in its note.
What counts as a completion
A completion is captured however it happens — ticking a checkbox, marking something done from a Smart View, or an edit made through a connected tool like an MCP client. Task creation history is backfilled once from your existing vault so the view isn't empty the first time you open it; from then on, everything accrues live.
Privacy — Settings → Insights
- 100% on-device. Nothing about how you work ever leaves your vault.
- Turn it off — an opt-out toggle stops capture entirely; existing history stays until you clear it.
- Retention window — keep history forever, or auto-prune it after 90 days, 6 months, or a year.
- Clear analytics history — wipe everything Insights has recorded, any time.
